EMMC Crash Scenario

Hi Renesas Team,

I am very new to microprocessors and Linux environment. SO if there is any mistakes in my questions please forgive.

I am currently using RZG2N based EVK from SM Electronics. They are using "Serial Flash ROM boot at single read 40MHz using DMA", mode pins MD4-MD1 = 0b0100.

So the initial booting is happening from a QSPI flash on board.

My proposals and concern:

  1. The board I am going to make is a custom one which won't have any QSPI flash.
  2. Only EEMC will be there the EMMC should contain UBOOT, kernel and application.
  3. We are planning to put the entire thing (UBOOT, kernel and application) to EEMC using SD-CARD. A proper image will be build and this image will be transferred to SD-CARD, later an application living in he SD-CARD will copy the entire things to EMMC from SD-CARD (mass production scheme).
  4. I would like to know whether the above (point 3) works or not?
  5. I need to take extra care about a corrupted EMMC situation. If the EMMC got corrupted in some way the back up way I have proposed is, connecting a  USB with UBOOT, kernel and application. Change the boot pins to USB download mode. Then an application in the USB image will copy the content to EMMC and start working properly.
  6. I am not sure whether I can put UBOOT in USB, please let me know this.
  7. I need to know whether 5th point discussed works or not.
  8. If UBOOT in USB is not applicable where to place the UBOOT (EMMC corrupted situation). Do I need to plan a QSPI flash which always contains a UBOOT?

Please throw some light on this. Time is very critical for me. If my questions are hard to understand please let me know that.

Thanks in Advance,

Kartha.
